More from my travels to Tasmania, this is Tasmanian photographer Phil Hirst, looking for a waterfall off to the side of the river we were exploring for the sake of photography. Phil is a local framer and nature photographer and was generous in taking me deep into the Tassie rainforest to get some photos. He also lined up a talk that I gave about Wedding Photography while I was down under, and the talk was so well received that we’re planning a workshop for the next time I’m down.

Just thought I’d update with a few thoughts about this Article about photographers who print their own work. I like to remind everyone that I’ve been printing my own black and white for over 20 years now, I am (I feel) justly proud of the high quality of prints that I provide to my wedding clients. If you would like to see (and Feel! nothing like touching) what my prints are like, I will gladly mail you a sample, free of charge.
The above shot is Kate and Sam, striking the pose on the beach at Four Seasons Manele Bay on Lanai. Contact mi amiga Aikiko Suzuki for more information about me photographing weddings on Lanai, if you like.

The ‘Mad Pash’ (as they say Down Under) is Stephannie and Bill, one of the three Ritz-Carlton Kapalua I did recently. What a FUN couple, they really got into their day with such love and passion, and I felt it was a complete JOY to be part of their day. I shot this out on the Lava Point, well after sunset, with the Nikon D3 and one of my very favorite 50mm, an ancient one that just seems to have some sort of magic mojo when it comes to kissing. I’ve been souping (developing) the black and white film and it looks Stunning, I can’t wait to show them.

I like the saying ‘When life gives you Lemons, make Lemonade’. The above shot is from my recent mad run of really fun weddings at the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua in West Maui. I did three weddings in 5 days over there, and each couple had an abundance of delightful moments that were totally unique. In the above shot, Ralph and Youngji get a “Hawaiian Blessing” from the golf course sprinklers that suddenly turned on as we zipped back from their sunset session at the Lava Point. I had just enough time to whip around and pop off a few as we plowed through the spray in an open golf cart. They were really great about it all, and it actually was quite refreshing (I got a good dose as well). If you are thinking about having a wedding on Maui give Kristina Harpe a call with Wedding Services, she is Super Awesome, just the greatest and she has excellent sunset timing! As you can tell by my blog entries its been a busy busy spring going into a busy busy summer! Don’t forget our 10th Anniversary Special!
